Blue Moon Brewing Company

Unless you have been living under a rock, chances are that you have heard of Blue Moon. They trace their roots back to what was the Sandlot Brewery in Coors Field, from 1995 to the present they have continued to evolve into the staple that we know them as today. Their most infamous beer is of course the Belgian White, more recently they have also pushed out a light refreshing wheat beer called Light Sky which I personally like a lot more than the Belgian White. Nowadays Blue Moon is owned by Molson Coors so they are undoubtedly part of the heavy hitters in the U.S. beer game. Honestly I was never the biggest fan of their flagship beer, but that really doesn’t matter because their brewery in RiNo brews up some amazing beer. Their brew pub is a place that you have to go, they really do have great beer that they brew all in house at that location. The only beer that they do not brew on site is the Belgian White. One of my all time favorites here is the Iced Coffee Blonde which is a blonde colored wheat ale that has subtle sweet notes of coffee. They just recently began to distribute it locally in liquor stores but it tastes much better on tap at the brewery. Another really unique brew was their 2018 Woodford Reserve Barrel Aged Chimp Cherry Imperial, which is hands down one of the best barrel aged beers that I’ve ever had. It was of course pretty strong at 11% ABV but it has so many complexities - the slight smokiness from the barrel, the tartness and sweet notes of cherry perfectly balanced into a beautiful smoothness that I have not experienced from other barrel aged beers. They have a wide variety of other beers too that are all hands down great; I’ve never tried a beer there that I didn't like. They also have some really good food, one of their most interesting fares to me was their Falafel Burger (no longer available). That being said, they even have Green Chili Cheese Fries which are pretty damn good. Combine all of that into an expansive modern brewhouse and BOOM! It’s an experience that is a slice of everything great that Denver has to offer! It’s one of my favorite breweries in Denver to go to!
