Rock Cut Brewing Co.

This place is nestled at the base of Prospect Mountain in Estes Park which is just off the beaten path of downtown Estes but is still easily walkable from any of the shops with a little bit of motivation and some decent shoes! It really has a small mountain town feel inside and you can even still see the mountains! Relaxing here is really easy, amazing atmosphere, great beer, good people- what more could you want? My favorites here are the Subnivean Vanilla Porter and the Altruism which you need to try. The Subnivean Vanilla Porter is exactly what it sounds like, a porter with subtle hints of coffee and vanilla but they’re not overpowering at all so this is some real smooth drinking! The Altruism on the other hand is far from a porter because of the simple fact that it’s a German style Amber. They say that one of the recommended activities that pair well with this brew is riding the Estes Park Tram; if you’re scared of heights like me, then enjoying four of these bad larrys and then proceeding to ride the tram will ensure you have a really wholesome experience. Especially if you ride the tram on a windy day, dangling hundreds of feet above the ground in a small cart built in the 1950s will put the fear of God in you for sure. Either way though it’s still really fun and it’s safe, I have been on it multiple times and lived to tell the tale! Also, one dollar of every Altruism pint purchase is donated to their selected non-profit for the quarter- so you’re technically drinking for a charity, how noble! Obviously right now they’re closed but if you live in the area, they’re still selling 32oz growlers to-go!
